There used to be a rule in some of the AsahiLinux channels that no RE discussion was allowed, not sure why.

I also know the AsahiLinux team is very aware if there are any unintended things that cross the Linux-macOS boundary Apple would very likely just shut it down.

Apparently even the macbook neo has the ability to run AsahiLinux, so they can definitely allow access to running alt OSs pretty easily

I have an M2 Macbook Air that I love, it's the best machine to read news from and access other machines over SSH, I only use macOS to use rekordbox, 99% of the time I'm booting into AsahiLinux

I just don't trust macOS enough to run the hw, AsahiLinux/Linux Kernel I do, I love Apple hardware but want to run Linux.

Without 3D accl basic web browsing can sort of suck, QubesOS has software only rendering and you can really feel it.

I used to use Mullvad's DoH Service because of ad blocking, it worked quite well with SoundCloud etc.

Are there any alternatives?

This obviously isn't for everyone, but the solution I use is: my own DNS server at home + wg to access it when I'm away.

I was considering setting something similar with Tailscale, I have a TS exitnode that sits on a VM alongside my VyOS/home router.

I'd tempted to setup a DNS Forwarder up on that with Ad-Blocking then use Quad9 as upstream, then just have Tailscale be always on.

How's the latency when you're away?

nextdns. I wonder why people use anything else at all
