I tried to warn them that they were hosting a phishing site once and they weren't very receptive.

Otherwise, I hosted a site with them for years and all went well.

Cheap RAM in 500 yards. ->

[apparent tunnel to cheap RAM painted on rock face]

...and Apple zooms through it like it's a real tunnel.

The UN sustainability index once listed Cuba as the only sustainable economy. Another year it was Ecuador. Cuba might be eligible again because of the embargo. My point is that you can't convince folks in rich countries to be truly sustainable and you can't convince the rest to not aim for a higher standard of living. Putin said something like that and he was right.

And we keep coming up with ideas to make it worse: blockchain and now AI.

Bingo. A lot of what passes for solutions are fairly anemic. We will swap out any technology for a similar less intensive alternative but the instant we have to actively change our lifestyle it is largely ignored.

It isn't because people are malicious, it is that people tend to normalize the conditions they are raised in even if they are wildly exceptional.

All individual solutions (“lifestyle”) are inherently anemic and impotent. You don’t avert an extinction event with public service announcements and solar panel rebates.

The only thing it is useful for is scapegoating (cf. this thread).

I used one these things in Portugal a few years ago.

They are definitely not thought for women.

But I have to say that if you have a very cheap solution for 25% of your use cases you should definitely use it.

What you can't do is neglect the other 75%.

I had to stop and think, but I follow your mathematical reasoning. Although 1:1 is not a realistic number; i'd think more like 4:1 or more? and if men over 60 are around, it's going higher for sure.

Unfortunately, "Lectronz now generates roughly the equivalent of one modest salary."

These things are going to be sent by mail. You could just have the postal service charge a few extra cents.

In the case of the US, 1929 and WWII bought significant changes. Then Reagan started the path back to the XIX century.

This must be the most utterly trivializing summary of the 20th century I have ever seen in my life

That would be securities fraud.

Doesn’t necessarily have to be to mislead investors, could be to mislead applicants, competitors, whatever.

I know if my business was shittin’ the bed I wouldn’t want to give any appearance of that. Better to just let everyone think it’s business as usual, no matter what.

Isn't everything?

I mean, all they have to say "We were hoping the RIGHT candidate applied that met all our criteria and they never did."

> “A relevant opportunity” with part-time remote work and a great hourly compensation

That is so suspicious at the moment.

Which site would you qualify as a "good" actor?

It's an honest question. Is there such a thing as ethical porn or are there only sites that pay taxes and those that don't?

OnlyFan is as ethical as porn can get

There are definitely more ethical porn sites, e.g. ones that will take down revenge porn vs ones that won't.

I'd call the ones which have a process for verifying actors and following local laws to be good actors

“Good” actor does not refer to ethical, but to lawful.

> ethical porn

Define “ethical porn”? Problem with ethics is that it varies from person to person; at least lawful has the taste of varying only from country to country.

It's not an honest question. A good actor is one that is not trying to show porn to children and follows the law.

> A good actor is one that is not trying to show porn to children and follows the law.

It's been happening since the 1800s non stop.... I know it's wrong to show kids porn etc but what's the actual damage it does?

That's one (very serious issue) but there are many others.

Pornhub is a company, has an address, pays taxes, and has a history of problems.

What's a good commenter? I'm sure you eat meat and use fossil fuels.

The discussion is about actors under a regime of universal age checks, not your personal problems. If it helps, change it to be about sites that write about birth control when information about birth control has been ordered to be restricted to married males over 30, and "good actors" complying with this ends up resulting in both unmarried females and married Catholic males over 30 who don't want to identify themselves visiting sites that also contain information about full communism and Zoroastrianism, which have been decreed illegal for anyone to discuss.

There are sites which follow laws and those that don't.
