I love the concept! It's too damn fast though. I want to see my cursor change to busy when waiting for IO

Yeah, it is complicated because we do live in a very misogynistic civilization with patriarchal privileges. It’s just often difficult not to overcompensate to counterbalance and resist these circumstances. Treat people as individuals instead of the archetypes.

As author wrote: we need to practice the benefit of the doubt. Or I like the “trust but verify” pattern

I'd argue making women do more labor by forcing them to write articles justifying their marriage is misogynistic as well. Its just in that case people see it as acceptable because they think it's fighting the patriarchy. But really the patriarchy is not disappearing because of this comments, it's just insulting a random woman based on nothing of substance. If someone tells a women to wear more clothing to protect herself from abuse that's considered sexist, I don't see how this is different. Everyone thinks it's for the best

I'd also argue that misogyny had mutated into this implicit assumption where every woman is silently oppressed by the men in their lives. I find it ironically misogynistic that a woman is assumed to have no agency in their life and we have to police the men instead.

Indeed. On further reflection, it may say something that she was compelled to write such a piece defending her husband instead of telling others to mind their own damn business

We consider it 'misogynistic' because women have more difficulty engaging in certain pursuits (career and enterprise) while more easy engaging in others (child-rearing, family life). It's because of our own bias that career and enterprise is worth more than family life that we say the world as a whole is 'misogynistic' instead of the truth, which is that some areas of life, it's easier to be a woman and in others a man.

> Why did companies seek 10x ninja rockstar coders and subject them to leetcode interviews—surely, a junior fresh out of college could churn out something if it's so easy?

Because companies resent that they have to take on risk and pay people to extract value from the market.

Ugh, why do we have to pay people to code, maintenance, etc. Lets pay people to extract more value for our bonuses and shareholders. Lets try to only hire heavyweights so that we don't get hung up on that difficult-to-measure coding process, knowledge transfer, messy human-ness. Oooh how nice, we can hire a fewer employees that know how to leverage code agents that free them up to think about that what REALLY matters...

it's Q*bert!

I donno man, i just want to drive my gondola thing and help fish “get high.” Glorious

Costco is popular in Japan as well. I also think about the bike infra[0] to Ikea in Netherlands— a similar store that may be more associated with car/suburban culture.

Speaking of interesting SD card features-- it would be nice to have a way to have the sd card expire. Like if it doesn't get voltage for a duration of time: it self erases.

Sounds like the aforementioned rockstar dev may have found their way to comment and miss the point.

When I was less self aware, I'd say similar things: my coworkers/manager can't accept that I write perfectly good code at a faster pace. Doesn't matter whether it's good or bad code-- the coworkers have to collectively understand it in order for it to be maintainable.

Still learning myself, but I've seen MCP tools just lightly wrap upstream json-body REST APIs. Works. But not only is the json structure more tokens but often the model just needs a small subset of fields in the payload.

To be safe if you need a full json, would make conditonal passthrough as the original raw output. Or, need to handle selective object using python via the filter plugin.

My H1B coworker has paid $180k more in taxes than I have. We are the same age. He has fewer years working in USA than I have as a citizen. We calculated this by the data exposed by the mySocialSecurity website.

I get to vote and he does not.

Edit: s/green card/H1B/

Well the fundamental question is does one see the US as a nation or some economic zone/factory where your worth is determined by how much you produce.

In the first case the paid taxes argument is pointless.

Is that the same line you take with people who argue that immigrants are a net drain on society and live off welfare?

Uncle Sam likes tax payers.

I believe the current administration, in general, appreciates those with $$.

So you want voting status to be determined by how much you pay in taxes? Fascinating, surely that would go well

Well, that’s the main talking point when it comes to immigrants, isn’t it?
