I recently had some problems with my smart phone losing battery power too fast, so I started putting it in battery saving mode. I would have expected things to get more sluggish, but I actually experienced quite the opposite. In battery saving mode, most transitional animations are disabled, resulting in an (in my opinion) vastly more responsive experience. Since then, I have went out of my way to disable as many animations as possible, and I have not found myself missing any of them yet.
