I tend to agree with this. Keeping thing as simple as possible to start is ideal.
Also out of the box docker offers a lot of functionality for single machine and development environments that might be good enough. I've seen kubernetes make more sense when you need to grow to multiple machines and are trying to optimize resource utilization.
