If you want to see the peak in inhumane treatment of prisoners, go to any American prison south of the Mason–Dixon. Forced feeding, solitary confinement, executions, no foreign investigations (the US won't let the UN inspect American prisons), single-ingredient dietary plans as punishment – I've seen a lot of it working with a local prison abolitionist group for the last few years.
To treat people like this based on their ethnicity is beyond the pale.
