On a cloud VM in a good cloud, using disaggregated storage:

- physical hardware has trouble, e.g. fan failure -> my VM gets live migrated to a different host, I don't notice or care

- physical hardware explodes -> my VM restarts on a different host, I might notice but I don't care

Disaster planning is a lot easier with VMs (even with pets not cattle).
