It's mentioned that changes in ambient temperature may be causal to this affect, citing the availability of heating.

I wonder if our bodies will become less able to heat and cool over time.

I'm in the Midwest US where outside temperatures swing incredibly through the year. Inside, people aren't very tolerant of different temperatures. Either the heater or AC is blasting.

When I've visited Korea, there was somewhat less extreme temperatures, but a lot more tolerance for it being a little cold or a little hot inside.
